Overview
This album is the upshot to a successful and exhilarating live tour that has seen Clive Bell, Roberto Filoseta and Sylvia Hallett performing at festivals in England and Italy.
At the basis of this trio of mixed musical personalities is an exquisitely idiosyncratic approach to sound production, combining sophisticated systems of sound manipulation, lo-fi electronic gadgetry, everyday objects of unsuspected sonic possibilities and acoustic instruments from the East and the West. The contemporary and the timeless merge in a highly individual brand of free improvisation: timbral relationships are interspersed with modal material with a subtle oriental tinge, while the soundworld is pervaded by a gestural quality that manifests in passages of considerable dramatic impact.

The Wire Magazine, June 2008

Profile
Roberto Filoseta
Roberto Filoseta (PhD) is a composer and performer, and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, School of Creative Arts. His compositions explore the expressive possibilities and latent theatricality of live musical performance, resulting in music-theatre works in which musical gesture and theatrical action and space are configured as an interactive whole.
Roberto is also active as a performer of both written and improvised music, using piano, electronics, percussion, sonorous sculptures and other unconventional instruments, as well as body movement. He has played with some fine exponents of the ‘free improvisation’ circle, including: Eddie Prèvost, Trevor Taylor, Paul Dunmall, Gary Smith, Pat Thomas, Jonathan Impett, Clive Bell and Sylvia Hallett.
